DeSantis Lends Helping Hand For GOP Border Challenges

If the Biden-Harris administration won’t step up to the plate, somebody has to! Luckily, a contingency of Republican governors are taking the lead where the federal government is not, and hopefully a return to border free of crime and destruction will result.

Recently Republican Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis announced he will be deploying local law enforcement agencies to the US-Mexico border of offer assistance to the states hit hardest by Biden’s criminal negligence of the crisis.

In an announcement made on Wednesday, the Florida Republican offered in numerous law enforcement agencies to assist states like Texas and Arizona in mitigation the surge of illegal immigration.

“America’s border security crisis impacts every state and every American. The Biden Administration ended policies implemented by President Trump that were curbing illegal immigration, securing our border, and keeping Americans safe.”

“I’m proud to announce today that the state of Florida is answering Texas and Arizona’s call. Florida has your back.”

The following law enforcement agencies have committed to assisting the current immigration crisis:

  • Florida Highway Patrol
  • Florida Department of Law Enforcement
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
  • Brevard County Sheriff’s Office
  • Escambia County Sheriff’s Office
  • Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office
  • Holmes County Sheriff’s Office
  • Lee County Sheriff’s Office
  • Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office
  • Pasco County Sheriff’s Office
  • Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office
  • Walton County Sheriff’s Office

DeSantis’ announcement comes after Republicans Governors Greg Abbot of Texas and Doug Ducey of Arizona pleaded with states for assistance to help them quell the wave of illegal immigration pouring into their states since the Biden administration either reversed or destroyed many of Trump’s common-sense immigration policies.

Some statistics:

In May 2020, under Trump’s tutelage roughly 17,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the border. Just one year later in May 2021, that number sky rocketed as a result of Biden’s policies. Border officials apprehended more than 172,000 illegal border crossers – a 700% increase.

To make matters worse, the Biden administration is releasing tens of thousands into American communities, hotels along the border before sending them on taxpayer-funded domestic flights into major U.S. cities.

Current projections predict that about 1.2 million border crossers will be encountered at the border this year with potentially hundreds of thousands more crossing illegally, undetected by federal immigration officials.
