Biden is trying to save his failing presidency by vowing to put a black woman on the Supreme Court. He seems to think this will win over the many voters who have rejected his collapsing administration (new polling suggests otherwise). There also seems to be a ploy by his team to force Republicans to go along with the plan, or else be accused of being racist and sexist.
But there is a big glaring hole in Biden’s plan. The man who claims to be so progressive and non-racist actually has a few skeletons in his closet. Before he gets the chance to attack Republicans as bigots over his pick, it turns out he was doing it long before them. Because, while he was a senator, he blocked a black woman from becoming a judge for nearly two years.
Way back in 2003 through 2005, when Joe Biden was still a Democrat senator from Delaware, President George W. Bush nominated Janice Rogers Brown to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, but due to her conservative views, Joe Biden and the Democrats filibustered her nomination, blocking a final vote on her confirmation. Bush nominated Brown for the District of Columbia Circuit in 2003 after she served as a justice on the California Supreme Court since 1996; she did not get confirmed until June 8, 2005. At one point, Janice Rogers Brown was a possible replacement for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. But that seat when to Samuel Alito. I guess Democrats had no problem with a white, conservative man joining the bench. But a black, conservative woman!? Joe Biden filibustered for two years to prevent her from gaining a seat on an appeals court. Now, why would Joe do that?
This is more than just a little bit of hypocrisy. It seems Democrats are very hostile to any non-white, non-male conservatives. Sure, they hate white conservative guys, a lot. But to a certain extent, they tolerate their existence (since they prop up their lie that conservatives are only white supremacist dudes). But if you find a black, Hispanic, Asian, gay, or female conservative? Democrats will do everything in their power to destroy them.
That’s because the only platform Democrats have left is identity politics. They can’t run on good ideas; they don’t have any. Their policies from last year failed tremendously. They don’t have any charismatic stars, like Obama, left for run for office. Only dinosaurs like Joe and weird, off-putting figures like AOC. The only thing that seems to work for them these days is exploiting minorities.
But if Americans realize that there are smart, likeable, patriotic, and conservative black women out there? It would destroy the left. That’s why Biden blocked the nomination of Janice Rogers Brown. And why he’ll do everything in his power to ignore any conservative nominees for this Supreme Court opening.
Republicans better hold Biden’s feet over the fire on this one. He has to answer for his double standard.
