Democrats And Republicans Join Together To Criminalize Free Speech

Last week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis traveled abroad to sign legislation making it a felony offense for anyone to disseminate materials with language that could be construed as being offensive, harassing, or threatening.

This is a monstrous overreach that violates the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, allowing conservatives to be imprisoned for expressing their ideas, and Democrats are taking note.

Democrats in Michigan are swiftly following in DeSantis’ footsteps and criminalizing free speech as well.

Almost any statement may be criminalized without any physical contact, vandalism, or fear of violence, as long as some snowflake sobs and plays the victim. In an era of Soros-funded DAs, attorneys, and leftist activist judges, this is a prescription for disaster, made possible by DeSantis’ irresponsible policies.

DeSantis signed HB 269 into law on a surprise visit to Israel last week, according to Big League Politics:

“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis traveled to a foreign nation on Thursday to officially sign an anti-hate speech legislation that makes any speech considered ‘harassment’ or ‘intimidation’ a felony punished by up to five years in prison.”

DeSantis passed HB 269 in Jerusalem, and its supporters laud it as a measure to combat anti-Semitism.

The bill makes it a felony hate crime to deliver material door-to-door if the literature is arbitrarily regarded to constitute harassment or intimidation by the receiver.

According to political pundit Scott Greer, “messages that are harmless as ‘Make America Great Again’ as well as ‘It’s Okay to be White’ might easily qualify as felony hate speech underneath the terms of this ambiguously written hate crime statute.”

Democrats are salivating as DeSantis takes steps to undermine the First Amendment. His ineffective leadership is harming the Republic.
