Mary Trump, niece of former president Donald Trump, criticized Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos for allegedly compromising the newspaper’s integrity by preventing an endorsement of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. In her blog post, Mary Trump, now estranged from her uncle, called the former president a “full-blown fascist” and argued Bezos’s decision reflects a “monstrous abdication of responsibility.” According to Mary, the Post’s choice to avoid endorsements, especially after calling Trump “the worst president of modern times” in 2020, leaves a troubling void, potentially benefiting her uncle.
Mary Trump accused Bezos of prioritizing his business interests, and suggested he might fear retribution under another Trump administration. In her view, Bezos’s decision not to endorse Harris is motivated by anticipatory obedience, potentially to avoid repercussions against Amazon. She claims the media’s reluctance to address what she perceives as a “very real fascist threat” exemplifies a larger failure in the corporate media landscape.
It appears Mary doesn’t like the shoe on the other foot. The mainstream media has largely thrown its full weight behind Kamala Harris, yet when one publisher fails to toe the line, liberal tears flow. If Bezos would rather stay away from making an endorsement, that’s his prerogative; but clearly the left can’t stand it. Mary’s outburst is all the proof you need that liberals are so insulated in their thought bubble that unbiased coverage is now seen as a vote of support for ‘fascism.’
