Classified materials were discovered in Joe Biden’s office at the Penn Biden Center in November, and attendees of a conference there in June allegedly had “unmonitored” access to the building.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, the two-day “boot camp” was hosted for congressional workers to encourage collaboration with China on areas including energy and education.
The University of Pennsylvania, where the Penn Biden Center is located, has gotten millions from unidentified Chinese donors. Concerns about possible national security risks have been raised by reports that UPenn has received $52 million in donations from unidentified sources, including China and Saudi Arabia since Biden took office.
The June event did not appear to have more stringent facilities security due to UPenn’s strong links to China. The Beacon claims that the two-day conference’s lax security allowed participants and congressional workers to roam the facility.
“Attendees were free to move about the facility unobserved and use empty rooms for phone conversations and other private work during the conference since there were no posted security personnel at the Penn Biden Center in June,” according to the study.
Biden’s secret information at the center may have been compromised given the event’s lax security.
The Justice Department and Congress are looking into Biden’s controversy involving confidential documents, which was first made public on January 9 thanks to a leak to CBS. For weeks, the scandal had been known to both the White House and the Department of Justice (DOJ). Just a few days before the midterm elections, on Nov. 2, Biden’s private attorneys discovered the records.
It’s unclear why Biden’s private counsel started looking for the classified information. The initial justification or purpose for the search has not been disclosed by the White House or DOJ.
Regarding congressional investigations regarding the facility’s handling of confidential materials, the Penn Biden Center has not complied.
The top-secret classification of classified information was applied to some of the papers that were kept at the facility. The documents allegedly relate to Iran, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, countries where the Biden family firm has engaged in numerous international business dealings.
