Biden Forces Out Well-Respected Trump-Era Official

In their latest move to remove any semblance of Trump’s influence at the border, the Biden administration is forcing top U.S. Border Patrol agent Rodney Scott from his post. The career law enforcement official was tasked with leading the operations at the US-Mexico border during the Trump administration, but now Biden is dropping him, temporarily putting in place Scott’s second in command.

During a video conference on Wednesday, Rodney Scott informed regional officials of his forced plan to leave his post asBorder Patrol Chief. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made the final decision, demanding Scott’s resignation effective immediately.

A source in the Border Patrol unit revealed the Biden administration’s decision to remove Scott was “complete driven by politics” and in no way related to his handling of the crisis since Biden assumed office. Rodney Scott has maintained his role as Border Patrol Chief for 18 months, a complete non-partisan position in the federal government. He has spend the last 29 years dedicating his career to law enforcement.

“This move by the Biden administration is unprecedented,” said the source.

Scott learned of Biden’s decision when he was given what Border Officials refer to as the “three R letter,” which stands for resign, retire, or relocate. While the former Border Chief did not respond to the decision, he did issue a statement on his private Facebook account announcing the move.

“I received my 3R letter today. For those not familiar, that is Federal government slang for the letter issued to [Senior Executive Service] level employees informing them of a directed reassignment. The recipient has 3 options- relocate, resign, or retire. No rationale or reason is required, nor is it disciplinary,” Scott wrote.

Five months into the Biden administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection has struggled to secure leadership confirmed by Senate. While the surge at the US-Mexico border heightens, while crime skyrockets, law enforcement in the region remains overwhelmed by the sheer number of apprehensions of illegal immigrants occurring on a daily basis.

Biden nominated Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus for Border Chief earlier in his presidency. However, the law enforcement officer received immense backlash when it was reported he was responsible for the death of a Hispanic man, Carlos Ingram-Lopez, while in Magnus’ custody.

The anonymous border source revealed that the Biden administration plans to install Magnus in Rodney Scott’s role anyway, as that position does not require Senate confirmation.

Customs and Border Protection deputy commissioner Bob Perez was forced out too, according to the source. Both Scott and Perez are career border officials and much-respected amongst law enforcement in the region.
