When the House Oversight Committee asked for information about who hid President Biden’s scandal with classified documents from the American people for 68 days before it was revealed to CBS News, the White House refused to give it to them.

The White House claimed it did not compel the National Archives (NARA) to withhold a public statement on the issue in a letter acquired by Breitbart News on Tuesday, and it declined to release the information required for the committee’s probe of the incident.

Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, responded on March 17 to a letter sent by House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-KY) on March 7 to White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients. “We made clear at the time that the White House did not urge NARA to withhold a statement,” Sauber wrote.

Sauber’s assertion follows NARA General Counsel Gary Stern’s declaration to Comer that “someone outside of NARA suppressed” the public announcement. According to “DOJ instruction,” Stern refused to say specifically who suppressed the information.

In his response to Comer, Sauber obstructed the committee and advised it to “in the first instance obtain facts from the appropriate agencies and afterward ask for information from the White House only to the degree necessary.”

Due to its investigation of Biden for inappropriately handling secret materials, the Justice Department of Biden is unlikely to supply the committee with documents.

The right of the White House to be open and honest with the American people and reveal the facts concealed by the Biden administration was not disputed in Sauber’s letter.

Comer stated to Breitbart News on Tuesday that Biden has full authority to make the materials public and be open with the American people.

“It’s concerning that the White House has been so secretive about President Biden’s improper handling of sensitive information.” Comer said in a statement that “although President Biden has the option to make all correspondence connected to this topic public, he chooses not to. The Oversight Committee will keep pushing for accountability and transparency for the American people.”

The New York Times reports that White House officials have been questioning how the classified document controversy involving Biden was revealed to the public after only a small number of White House and Justice Department officials were aware of the infraction.

According to at least two more reports in the mainstream media, Biden’s private attorneys agreed to keep the scandal from the American people and probably had no intention of disclosing it until it was leaked on January 9, months after the initial cache was discovered by Biden’s private lawyer on November 2.

Notwithstanding Biden’s assertions that his administration has operated with utmost transparency, the White House has not yet provided an explanation for why or what led the attorneys to look for the classified documents.
