California’s Sanctuary Policy: A Child’s Life Lost

California’s Sanctuary Policy: A Child’s Life Lost

This is what happens when our leaders put politics above people. An innocent 11-year-old boy, Aiden Antonio Torres De Paz, is dead today because California refuses to follow the law and protect its own citizens. This sweet child was playing outside the day before Thanksgiving, like any kid should be able to do. His soccer ball rolled into the street. He went after it. That’s when, according to police, an illegal alien named Hector Balderas-Aheelor hit him with his car and sped off, leaving him to die.

Aiden died on Thanksgiving Day. Instead of celebrating with family, his loved ones were left grieving.

And here’s the most outrageous part: Hector Balderas-Aheelor should never have been in this country in the first place. He had already been deported four times. Four. Times. He broke our laws again and again, and California let him do it. Why? Because of their so-called “sanctuary” laws that protect illegal aliens from being deported — even the dangerous ones.

Let’s be very clear: this tragedy was preventable. If California had done its job and cooperated with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), this man wouldn’t have been on our streets. He wouldn’t have been behind the wheel. And Aiden would still be alive.

But California’s leaders, led by Governor Gavin Newsom, care more about protecting illegal aliens than they do about protecting American children. They refuse to work with ICE. They block law enforcement from turning over known criminals to federal immigration agents. It’s madness. And it’s deadly.

ICE has already placed a detainer on Balderas-Aheelor, which means they want to take him into custody if he is ever released. But thanks to California’s sanctuary laws, there’s a real chance that he could walk free again. That’s right — a man who has been deported four times, who is now charged with killing a child and fleeing the scene, might be allowed back on the streets because California refuses to honor ICE’s request.

This is what happens when we stop enforcing our laws. This is what happens when we listen to the open-borders crowd and ignore the cries of American families. The people who push sanctuary policies like this have blood on their hands. They may talk about compassion, but where was the compassion for Aiden?

President Trump has made it clear: America must come first. That means securing our borders. That means removing criminal illegal aliens and keeping them out. That means holding states like California accountable when they defy federal law and endanger American lives.

Enough is enough. The American people are tired of watching their communities pay the price for failed policies. We are tired of burying our children while politicians protect criminals. We are tired of leaders who refuse to lead.

Governor Newsom, you have a choice. You can stop hiding behind sanctuary laws and finally do the right thing. You can honor ICE’s detainer and make sure Hector Balderas-Aheelor never walks free in America again. Or you can continue down the same path — a path paved with tragedy, injustice, and bloodshed.

The life of an American child should matter more than the political ambitions of a radical left-wing governor. Aiden’s life mattered. His family deserves justice. And the people of this country deserve leaders who will put their safety first.

We must demand change. We must demand security. And we must demand that our laws be enforced — for every American, in every state, every day. Because if we don’t stand up now, who’s going to be the next Aiden?
