As the Republican running mate for vice president, Vance went off against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) this week.
“There are economic, healthcare, and educational problems in places like Springfield, Ohio, because of President Joe Biden and Senator Harris’s open border policies,” Vance said. He also said that illegal immigration had a bad effect on Springfield, Ohio.
“People in Springfield, Ohio, who have had their lives ruined by Kamala Harris’s open border are the ones I worry about the most. It’s a shame,” Vance said.
Brennan “fact checked” Vance’s information by telling the crowd, “Just to be clear for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio does have a lot of Haitian workers who have legal status. He then moved on to the next question.”
As Brennan and O’Donnell tried to move on quickly, Vance spoke up and said that fact-checking was against the rules of the discussion. Vance then talked about the Biden administration’s “CBP app,” which gives immigrants legal status “at the wave of a Kamala Harris open border wand.” He then made a point of separating this from other ways of getting legal immigration, such as applying for a green card.
“That’s the thing with illegal immigration, Margaret. It was our leaders who did that, and Kamala Harris made it possible,” Vance said.
As Vance talked, Walz also tried to say something before their mics were turned off.
Brennan then said, “The crowd can’t hear you because your mics are cut.”
Numerous individuals utilized social media to share their thoughts regarding Brennan’s fact-checking and the muting of the mics.
“They cut off JD Vance’s mic as he called them out on lying about Kamala Harris’ open border policies,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said on X. “DISGRACEFUL.”
Collin Rugg, a political analyst, said that Vance checked the facts on Brennan and O’Donnell.
Rugg said, “JD Vance fact-checks the CBS presenters after they tried to fact-check him about the Haitian migrant problem in Springfield, Ohio.”
Libs from TikTok said it was “amazing.”
Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick and a political pundit, praised Vance for how he handled checking the fact checks.
