President Donald Trump’s Cabinet confirmations keep rolling in, with Tulsi Gabbard officially securing her position as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) on Wednesday.
The 52-48 vote was mostly along party lines, except for former GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell, who predictably sided with the establishment and opposed Gabbard.
Despite facing a brutal confirmation battle, Gabbard defied expectations, locking in key Republican support and beating back Democratic opposition and deep-state fearmongering.
Gabbard Overcomes Establishment Attacks
Democrats, led by Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA), tried and failed to sink Gabbard’s nomination.
Warner ranted on the Senate floor:
“We need leaders in the Intelligence Community who are prepared to stand up to short-sighted attempts to attack our workforce at the expense of our national security. Unfortunately, I do not believe Ms. Gabbard is such a leader.”
Translation? Gabbard won’t play ball with the intelligence swamp, and that has Washington’s power brokers terrified.
But despite their best efforts, Republicans stood strong, with critical backing from Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Todd Young (R-IN), who helped push her through committee last week.
Trump’s Pick: A Fighter for “Peace Through Strength”
Trump praised Gabbard when he announced her nomination in November:
“For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans. As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties – She is now a proud Republican! I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!”
Gabbard’s confirmation marks a major shift in how the intelligence community will operate under Trump’s leadership.
What’s Next? The Deep State’s Worst Nightmare
As a former Democrat turned fierce Trump ally, Gabbard is uniquely positioned to clean house in an intelligence bureaucracy that has repeatedly undermined Trump’s presidency.
She’s been a staunch critic of the surveillance state, a whistleblower defender, and a vocal opponent of endless wars—which means the swamp isn’t happy.
The intelligence agencies now have a real outsider at the helm—one who won’t cover for their abuses or play along with the establishment’s agenda.
Buckle up, deep state—it’s about to get real.
