Democrats say that Kamala’s position is better than Joe Biden’s. But they also say that she’s still not in a great situation. Maybe they should listen to their voters. One thing is that the key states are still pretty evenly split, according to polls taken during the bounce. Democrats know that her rise won’t last.
We told you last week that the head of a Kamala Super PAC was telling Democrats not to trust the polls.
CEO of Future Forward Chauncey McLean said, “Our numbers are much less bright than what you’re seeing in the press.”
He’s not alone.
Other Democratic pollsters said that Trump still has a lot of benefits, even if their numbers are correct. A partner at the Democratic polling company GBAO Strategies, Margie Omero, said:
“It’s still a very tough race, and that fits with everything we know. There are many red flags in the numbers that should set you off. A study paid for by the Democratic messaging company Navigator Research and released during the convention showed that Harris and Trump were pretty evenly matched in swing states. The poll also found that Trump did better than most candidates when it came to the traits that people look for in a candidate: whether they are qualified, have the right vision, and be a strong leader.”
There’s a whole other problem that shows how hard it is for studies to fully capture how everyone feels about an election.
“I looked into those problems for a long time and thought a lot about them. And I know a lot more about those issues now,” said Nick Gourevitch, a partner at Global Strategy Group.
“I don’t think there’s a single researcher in the United States who can sit here and say for sure that they fixed all the problems with the polls.”
