It’s fascinating how Democrats are able to twist, spin, and contort the true meaning of a piece of legislation in order to manipulate their supporters into backing a measure so terrible, so horrific, and so dangerous for the United States.
Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, et al have convinced liberal Americans that voting rights are somehow under attack by big, bad Republicans who seek to prevent every black person from casting their ballots. The only prevention is sweeping election legislation, which restricts state’s rights and nationalizes elections, akin to the Former Soviet Union.
Such is the so-called Freedom To Vote Act — the far-left answer to growing GOP support and a way to legalize their cheating tactics responsible for stealing the 2020 presidential election from Donald Trump.
But once again, Senate Republicans blocked the bill from advancing.
For the third time this year, Senate Democrats tried to pass sweeping elections legislation that they tout as a powerful counterweight to new voting restrictions in the states. And for the third time this year, they failed.
However, amid the stalemate, leading Democrats reveal they are building consensus around doing away with the Senate filibuster. After multiple failures and an inability to pass any monumental legislation, Democrat lawmakers have begun to re-think their initial hesitation to destroy the Senate rule.
Sen. Angus King, a Maine independent who sides with Democrats, recently eased his longstanding opposition to changing the filibuster rules, which create a 60-vote threshold for most legislation to pass.
“I’ve concluded that democracy itself is more important than any Senate rule,” said King.
Oh yes, democracy!
That’s exactly what the Freedom To Vote Act promotes — more democracy!
On Wednesday, Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell destroyed the bill, calling it a “election takeover scheme” by the Democrats. But if more liberal lawmakers begin echoing Sen. King’s sentiments on the filibuster, that takeover scheme could quickly become a reality.
The third iteration of the bill is what Democrats call a “compromise” version. However, it would still establish national rules for running elections, limit partisanship in the drawing of congressional districts and force the disclosure of many anonymous donors who spend big to influence elections…among other things.
West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin – the Democrats’ biggest headache – included a provision in the “compromise” version of the Freedom to Vote Act which prohibits removing voter ID requirements in national elections.
Democrats hate voter ID requirements as it allows them to utilize their dirty tricks to cheat elections, as we all witnessed last November.
But so far, those changes have not attracted the Republican support that Manchin was seeking.
McConnell refuses to budge, saying: “The same rotten core is all still there.”
If somehow passed, this bill marks the end of American democracy – whatever that has devolved into.
