Im not sure if this Democrats and left-leaning media accusations that the 50 illegal aliens transported to Martha’s Vineyard were “falsely seduced” or “enticed” into attending were refuted by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on Friday.
During a press conference, he responded to a query from a reporter by saying, “I think that’s entirely incorrect. I believe that if you take a closer look, the people who are contracted not only give them a release form to sign, but they also give them a packet that has a map of Martha’s Vineyard. Therefore, it was clear that’s where they were going, and they handed them that.”
And here’s the thing, DeSantis added, “It’s all voluntary because it’s simply the kind of thing where we just think that’s the correct way to do it. I mean, if the states could send, I would send to Mexico or to their nation of origin. However, they freely agree to it, sign a release form, and then receive a packet. So they did receive a packet with the Martha’s Vineyard map. They are also cared for nicely with all of these things, including meals and everything, as you are aware.”
The Republican potential presidential candidate then addressed a CNN broadcast from the previous week in which the lefties on the program compared DeSantis’ transporting 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard for legal purposes to the Holocaust.
Sending 50 illegal aliens to affluent Martha’s Vineyard is comparable to the Holocaust, someone tried to argue on CNN, DeSantis said. “And I was simply wondering whether everything had gone completely crazy. They sign up for these voluntary transportation services, but they get a good ride and everything they need. And, you know, it’s just the humane thing to do.”
“What’s not compassionate is what Biden is doing,” according to DeSantis: “He’s giving a false promise, the border’s are open, tempting people to come here for political motives, and then he’s essentially cutting these people free and abandoning them high and dry. He ought to say that our border is closed. You know, simply running across the border is not one of the ways to apply to come to this nation. And I believe that all of this can be attributed to him taking office and undoing President Trump’s policies—not because they were bad, but rather as a huge virtue signal from people who dislike Trump. They must therefore do everything in opposition to him.”
