Dems In Denial – Crime Spree Response Shows Their Sad Bubble

Dems In Denial – Crime Spree Response Shows Their Sad Bubble
As we have shown previously, Transportation Secretary “Mayor Pete” Buttigieg is absolutely conceited and out of touch. “I feel like it is the early 2000s, and I am talking to some folks who think that we can just keep landline phones forever,” he remarked in an earlier opinion piece this month on electric automobiles. Pete, it does not seem at all elitist.

However, Mayor Pete went on MSNBC Sunday to declare that Washington, D.C., is safe—super safe—and that he can take his dog to the Capitol without encountering any trouble, perhaps in an attempt to surpass his own conceit. He continued, saying, “You could not do that when we all arrived here!” in an obviously misleading attempt to suggest that D.C. was safer now than it had been when Biden entered an office.

There is a minor issue with his claim:

“With 274 fatalities and a homicide rate that ranks among the worst in the nation, Washington, DC, had its bloodiest year in almost 20 years. The nation’s capital witnessed a nearly 40% surge in violent crime, primarily attributed to a surge in armed robberies and carjackings, many perpetrated by children. In 2023, the city recorded over 950 carjacking incidents, and the frightening news concerning teenage carjacking rings alarmed locals and employees.”

I apologize. Keep it from Buttigieg:

However, Buttigieg would have you think that the reality on the ground is not the issue, but rather the right-wing media:

There is a lot of money and effort going toward portraying a different tale, particularly on ideological news channels and online, so we need to talk about the facts here. “However, the obvious truths and facts are standing there in front of us, such as the fact that I can now take my dog to the Capitol securely in a manner that was not possible for you when we first arrived.”

That quote, in my opinion, encapsulates Joe Biden’s and his administration’s whole strategy toward the American people: believe what we tell you, not what your eyes or experiences tell you. They constantly complain about how the media is not highlighting how great life is under Mumbles, how their message is the issue, or how we as a people are not intelligent enough to see their genius.

Pete’s statement, “The plain facts and the simple reality are right here, staring us in the face,” is almost comical. Yes, that is true, and here’s a truth for you, Mayor: “The nation’s capital has suffered a crime increase unlike any other city, nor has the accompanying national scrutiny concerning its implications.”

According to a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, voters’ top concern is crime, and just 40% of respondents thought President Biden handled crime and violence well.

Pete can at least walk his dog safely now. Not in every case:

“On Sunday, when he delivered the remarks, Fox 5 reported that there had been four gunshots, about six miles southwest of the Capitol building. Only a few days prior, a woman in southeast Washington, D.C., escaped unharmed from a crossfire.”

During his 2020 presidential campaign, Buttigieg presented himself as a down-to-earth person who cared about everyday people, emerging from obscurity. But after making remarks similar to these recently, he has removed the mask and exposed himself as just another conceited Washington elite who does not give a damn about what you are going through as long as he can stroll along the Potomac with his security detail.
