Democrat Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) has officially conceded the Pennsylvania Senate race to Republican Dave McCormick, two weeks after the Associated Press projected McCormick as the winner. Casey’s late concession follows a statewide recount and legal theatrics that cost taxpayers over $1 million and delivered no surprises—just more proof that Democrats love spending your money, even when they know they’ve lost.
“I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate,” Casey, 64, said in a video posted on X. He added, “Pennsylvanians can move forward with the knowledge that their voices were heard, whether their vote was the first to be counted or the last.”
During my time in office, I have been guided by an inscription on the Finance Building in Harrisburg: “All public service is a trust, given in faith and accepted in honor.”
Thank you for your trust in me for all these years, Pennsylvania. It has been the honor of my lifetime. pic.twitter.com/RSXEFwdge8

Translation: After weeks of dragging this out, Casey finally realized the math doesn’t lie, even if Democrats often do. McCormick led by 16,000 votes, a margin that even the recount-loving left couldn’t overturn.
Casey’s insistence on a recount wasn’t the only costly stunt. Democratic officials also pursued a desperate legal effort to force the counting of undated ballots—a move the Pennsylvania Supreme Court struck down earlier this week. For a party that claims to “protect democracy,” they sure seem comfortable bending the rules when elections don’t go their way.
In his concession, Casey predictably boasted about his team’s post-election efforts. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done since Election Day to enfranchise voters across the state,” Casey said. One might ask, “Enfranchise” whom, exactly? It’s hard to take these claims seriously when the efforts look more like a legal fishing expedition than a defense of democracy.
Meanwhile, McCormick struck a unifying tone in his victory statement. “I am so honored to represent every single citizen in Pennsylvania in the United States Senate and will fight for you every day,” McCormick said. With his win, the GOP secures a 53-47 majority in the Senate, giving Republicans a clear mandate to reverse the damage inflicted by the Biden administration’s policies.
Dave McCormick’s victory isn’t just a win for Pennsylvania—it’s a win for the entire country. The Keystone State rejected the Democratic playbook of endless recounts and frivolous lawsuits, instead choosing a leader who prioritizes accountability and common sense. With a Republican-controlled Senate, the era of Biden’s blank-check policies is over. Democrats can keep playing recount games, but America has moved on.
