The Biden-era migrant crisis just took another massive hit as the Department of Justice (DOJ) launched a criminal investigation into New York City’s corrupt hotel-turned-migrant-shelter racket. After years of Democrats wasting billions of taxpayer dollars to house illegal immigrants in luxury hotels, President Donald Trump’s second administration is cracking down hard on what many believe to be a fraud-ridden, cash-grab operation.
According to reports, federal prosecutors issued subpoenas to hotels operating as makeshift migrant shelters, demanding evidence related to the funding and management of these so-called “humanitarian” programs. The Hotel Chandler in Manhattan was reportedly among those hit with a subpoena, with prosecutors asking for detailed records on all migrants currently residing there, including their nationalities, birth dates, and identification numbers.
The numbers are staggering. Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, more than 160,000 illegal migrants flooded New York City—a sanctuary city that quickly realized it had bitten off more than it could chew. Mayor Eric Adams, after years of inviting the invasion, suddenly started crying for federal help as NYC’s migrant spending ballooned to $3.75 billion in 2024 alone.
But the tide has turned. President Trump’s administration, led by Border Czar Tom Homan and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, has already made over 30,000 ICE arrests in just a few months. And now, the DOJ is following the money. Who is funding this madness? Who is profiting off of taxpayers while millions of Americans struggle?
This criminal probe follows the sudden closure of NYC’s Roosevelt Hotel migrant processing center after Trump’s enforcement policies led to a massive drop in illegal border crossings—from a staggering 4,000 migrants per week under Biden to just 350 per week under Trump.
The reality is clear: Democrats created this crisis, and now they’re scrambling as Trump cleans up their mess. The DOJ’s investigation into NYC’s hotel-migrant scandal is just the beginning. If these hotels—and the officials who enabled them—are found to have engaged in fraud, corruption, or illegal dealings, expect serious consequences.
It’s about time we hold the people profiting from open borders accountable.
