Border encounters plummeted to an all-time low in February under President Trump, with just over 8,000 illegal aliens attempting to cross—a staggering 94% decrease from the 140,641 encounters recorded under Biden and Harris in the same month last year. This historic turnaround signals a clear shift from the chaos of the previous administration, when the southern border was left wide open, fueling what many called the largest invasion in U.S. history.
During Trump’s first term, illegal immigration hit a 47-year low, with only 310,000 crossings recorded in 2017. By contrast, in December 2023 alone, more than 300,000 illegal aliens crossed the border—nearly as many as in Trump’s entire first year in office. The numbers make it clear: border security is only effective when the administration has the backbone to enforce it.
Border Czar Tom Homan previously stated in early February that crossings were already down 93%—a greater decrease than during Trump’s first administration. fDespite this success, the Trump administration continues to ramp up border security efforts, deploying another 2,500 to 3,000 troops this weekend to further fortify the southern border. Trump himself declared victory over illegal immigration on Saturday, stating that “the invasion of our Country is over” and that “the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants.”
Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks credited the administration’s “effective policies” for achieving the lowest month of illegal crossings in recorded history. He reinforced Trump’s message to would-be border jumpers: “We will continue to detect, arrest, identify, prosecute, and REMOVE all individuals who dare to break our country’s laws by entering illegally. The border is closed to illegal immigration. Do not come.”
Effective Policies, REAL results!
February proved our combined efforts in securing the border WORK. USBP apprehended 8,326 illegal aliens at the U.S.-Mexico border, making it the lowest month in recorded history.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem echoed the same warning, making it clear that the days of lawlessness at the border are over: “If you come illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back.”
February was the lowest month in recorded history for encounters at our border. The world is hearing our message: do not come to our country illegally. If you do, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back.

Despite this unprecedented success, reports suggest that Trump is still unsatisfied with the speed of deportations. ICE Director Caleb Vitello was recently reassigned to oversee all field and enforcement operations, reportedly due to frustrations over deportation delays. Under Trump, failure is not an option, and those who cannot execute the America First agenda with the urgency it demands will be replaced. The numbers don’t lie—strong leadership and common-sense enforcement work. America has its borders back.
