DeSantis Uses The Trump Indictment To Further His Own Campaign

In response to the latest indictment against former President Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) stated this week that, “as president,” he will “put an end to the weaponization of the government.”

Former President Donald Trump was charged in connection with the events that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, based on a grand jury indictment made public by special counsel Jack Smith. Trump has been charged on four offenses: conspiracy to deceive the U.S., a conspiracy to hinder an official operation, obstruction and the attempted disruption of a legal official proceeding, as well as conspiracy violating rights.

DeSantis wrote on Twitter, “As President, I will stop the weaponization of the government, remove the FBI Director, and assure an equal standard of justice on behalf of all Americans. I’ve seen news reports, but I have not read the indictment. But I do believe we really need to make changes to provide Americans the ability to have their cases transferred out of Washington, DC to their local districts.”

It is unjust to be put on trial before a jury that reflects the swamp mindset because Washington, DC is a “swamp,” he said. “The politicization of the rule of the law constitutes one of the reasons why our nation is deteriorating. No more justifications; I’ll put a stop to the federal government being a weapon.”

The indictment was announced to the public the very day after President Biden’s ex business partner Devon Archer, who gave his testimony before the House Oversight Committee, accused him of being involved in a protracted influence-peddling plot.

Trump is now facing 3 indictments: his first one was in April in the city of Manhattan over state charges relating to payments that had been made to Stormy Daniels, a porn actress; the second one in June in Miami, Florida on federal allegations relating to the White House documents; and the latest one was on Jan. 6 in Washington, DC.
