The United Nations’ COP29 climate circus wrapped up with its usual demands for wealthy nations to fork over billions in the name of “saving the planet.” This time, they’re asking for a staggering $300 billion annually from developed nations until 2035, with climate alarmists already crying that it’s “not enough” and pushing for at least $400 billion. Predictably, the hypocrisy was on full display as around 50,000 attendees, including the global elite, flew into Azerbaijan on private jets to wring their hands over carbon emissions. You can’t make this stuff up.
India wasted no time slamming the agreement as “abysmally poor,” with delegate Chandni Raina calling it “an optical illusion.” Sierra Leone’s climate minister chimed in, lamenting the “lack of goodwill” from wealthy nations, while Nigeria’s envoy declared it “an insult.” Translation? The globalist grift machine wants more cash, and they’re not even trying to hide it.
The agreement, reached in the early hours at a sports stadium in Azerbaijan, commits developed nations to shell out at least $300 billion annually to help poorer countries cut emissions and prepare for so-called climate disasters. But, of course, that’s not enough for the perpetually unsatisfied left. U.N.-commissioned economists pegged the “fair share” at $390 billion, and you can bet they’ll move the goalposts higher next year.
All of this unfolds in the shadow of President-elect Donald Trump’s triumphant return to the White House. Trump, a vocal critic of globalist climate schemes, has pledged to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement once again. Unlike his predecessors, Trump understands that these deals are nothing more than wealth redistribution on a global scale, designed to punish hardworking Americans while lining the pockets of corrupt foreign bureaucrats.
The COP29 summit is yet another reminder of the left’s obsession with climate hysteria as a vehicle for global socialism. Democrats and their U.N. allies don’t care about saving the planet—they care about controlling your wallet. Trump’s return signals a much-needed course correction, where America stops funding the left’s utopian fantasies and starts putting its own citizens first.
