After getting the Democratic nod in July, Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and related political groups have raised a total of $1 billion.
Reuters says that a record amount of money has been pouring into her campaign, linked political action groups, and the Democratic Party. This is happening as the race for the White House in 2024 gets closer to its end on November 5.
After being made into the DNC candidate on July 21, Harris raised $25 million right away. In about a month, she had raised $500 million.
NBC News says Harris now has a huge gap in cash over former President Donald Trump, who had only raised $309 million for his campaign by the end of August.
AdImpact, an ad-tracking service that NBC used, said that Republican super PACs spent more than $80 million on TV ads across the country in September. This helps to fill in the gaps.
For the last few weeks of the campaign, the biggest GOP groups have set aside more than $100 million for ads.
More and more money is going into advertising online, by mail, and door-to-door.
