In my opinion, Kamala Harris probably won’t even show up to the debate on September 10. But if she does, polls expert Frank Luntz says she will lose because of how she did in her CNN interview last week.
Luntz said what he thought would happen in an interview the next day on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
In the end, he came to the conclusion that Harris would probably lose a fight against former President Donald Trump based on how she did in the interview.
The performance that Luntz saw clearly shocked him.
“To be honest, I was shocked,” he said. “I wasn’t pleased as a bystander because I thought she could do better with this much time to prepare.”
He then went on to make eight important points, starting with the fact that she didn’t have a good answer when asked what she planned to do on the first day.
Luntz said, “She should have had something for the first hour, the first day, the first week, the first month, and the first year. That’s what people want to see most to see if you’re serious. She didn’t really list much besides her talking points.”
Luntz also said she didn’t have any real solutions to the rising costs of things like food, gas, housing, and health care. He also said she should have focused on solving the problems of regular Americans instead of defending her values against accusations of flip-flopping. He said her answers were vague and more like a speech at a gathering than a clear plan for what the people of the United States “deserve” from their president.
Luntz also thought she missed the mark when she attacked Trump. It would have been better for her if she had directly compared his track record to her vision and stressed that “he promised, he failed.”
Luntz gave her a “C” grade and told her straight out, “She’s gonna have to do better in the debate.”
