A new Gallup poll shows that 45% of U.S. adults now say they are independents, not tied to either the Republican or Democrat parties. This is the highest number Gallup has ever recorded. It means nearly half the country no longer feels represented by the two major political parties. That should be a clear warning sign to the Washington establishment.
For years, politicians in both parties have ignored the needs of everyday Americans. Instead of standing up for the Constitution, freedom, and American values, they’ve focused on power, control, and endless spending. Now, more people are saying, “Enough is enough.”
This shift away from the two-party system didn’t happen overnight. It’s been building for decades. Twenty years ago, far fewer Americans called themselves independents. But as both parties drifted away from the people and toward their own interests, trust began to collapse. Today, that trust is nearly gone.
Let’s be honest. The Democrat Party has completely lost its mind. They’ve embraced socialism, open borders, and attacks on law enforcement. They push radical gender ideology in schools, try to take away our guns, and label anyone who disagrees with them as “extremists.” They’ve turned their backs on the working class and rural America. No wonder so many people are walking away.
But the Republican establishment hasn’t done much better. Too many so-called conservatives in Washington talk a big game during election season, then fold when it’s time to fight. They say they support the Constitution, but then vote for bloated budgets and endless foreign wars. They promise to secure the border, then rail against President Trump’s fight to deport illegal criminals. Voters are tired of broken promises.
That’s why President Trump’s America First movement has been so powerful. It gives a voice to the forgotten men and women of this country. It puts working Americans ahead of global elites. It defends the Constitution, the Second Amendment, and the right to speak freely. It calls out corruption in both parties and demands real change.
This poll shows that Americans are hungry for something different. They want leaders who are not bought and sold by lobbyists. They want policies that make life better for their families, not just for billionaires and bureaucrats. They want to live in a country that respects freedom, faith, and the rule of law.
Independents are not people who don’t care. In fact, many of them care deeply about this nation. But they’re fed up with being lied to. They’re tired of watching their values trampled and their tax dollars wasted. They want a government that works for them—not against them.
Now, some in the media will try to spin this poll as a sign that Americans are becoming more “moderate” or “centrist.” That’s not what’s happening. What we’re seeing is a rejection of fake leaders and failed ideas. Americans aren’t walking away from principle—they’re walking away from corruption, from radicals, from gross overspending.
This does open the door for candidates who believe in liberty, limited government, and strong borders to win elections in 2026. It’s time for citizens to get involved, run for office, and take back their towns, states, and country.
The rise of independents is not the end of America—it’s the beginning of a new chapter. A chapter where We the People take back the power that belongs to us. The Founders gave us a republic, if we can keep it. And judging by this poll, more Americans than ever are ready to fight for it.
