A leaked video of a Democrat in Michigan on a supporter call called into question the media’s story that Kamala Harris was comfortably ahead in Michigan, a key swing state.
The RealClearPolitics average of polls for Michigan shows that Harris is only 1.4% ahead of former President Donald Trump. In some polls, she is ahead by as much as 5%.
“I’m not in the best of moods today.”
Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat from Michigan who is running for an open spot in the U.S. Senate, says that the Harris-Walz ticket is falling in their own polls. A video from a virtual fundraiser that got out shows her talking with New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker.
“Right now I don’t feel good about where we stand on Kamala Harris in a place like Michigan,” Slotkin said in the video that Axios got.
“We have her low in our polls,” Slotkin said.
According to the Axios story, some lawmakers lie about their problems to get people to give money to their campaigns. However, there are other reasons to think Slotkin may be telling the truth when she warns people. Pollsters say that Trump has a history of doing worse in polls for a number of reasons. They think that he will have more support in the election than the polls show before November 5.
Harry Enten, a pollster for CNN, said, “Donald Trump is very much in this race. If there is a change in the polls like we’ve seen in the past few years, Donald Trump would win in the end.”
This huge historical edge could also mean that the Republicans take over control of the U.S. Senate from the Democrats.
Axois said that Slotkin’s office did not answer when asked for a statement on the story.
