The Republicans worked on the study for three years without any help from the Democrats. Instead, Dems have said bad things about how the committee gathered proof and wrote the report.
Rep. Greg Meeks (D-N.Y.), chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee, said that Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas), was writing a “predetermined, partisan narrative about the Afghanistan withdrawal.”
The White House said in a statement that the report was based on “cherry-picked facts, inaccurate characterizations, and biases that have plagued this investigation from the start.”
The US tried many times over twenty years to find a way out of Afghanistan, but failed. Four presidents held office during that time. Biden, on the other hand, chose to leave Afghanistan by September 11, 2021, even though his military and foreign policy advisers told him not to. This was the worst and most poorly planned withdrawal in American history.
There was more going on than just the crazy chaos at Abbey Gate that led to the suicide attack that killed 13 Americans. It included the leaving behind of tens of thousands of Afghan people who worked for the U.S. troops and U.S. contractors even though they knew it was dangerous.
The report says that President Biden’s choice to pull all U.S. troops out was not based on security, the Doha Agreement, the recommendations of his top national security advisors, or the advice of our allies. The Doha Agreement is the deal that former President Donald Trump made with the Taliban.
“Instead, it was based on his firm belief that the US should not be in Afghanistan anymore, which he had held for a long time.”
“The president made up his mind that we should leave, and he’s not listening to anyone,” Col. Seth Krummich, who used to be the head of Special Operations Command, said.
