Governor Gavin Newsom (D) of California said again this week that guns kill more children than anything else. This is not true.
Newsom wrote on Twitter, “Guns kill more kids in America than anything else. It’s not cancer. Not wrecks. Not even drugs. GUNS.”
He then said bad things about the Republican Party, saying that GOP leaders do nothing to end the killings.
On June 2, 2012, Breitbart News showed that President Biden was wrong when he said that guns kill more children than anything else.
The assertion can only be supported if one counts those who are of voting age (18 and 19) as children.
The claim comes from a May 26, 2022, FOX News story about data from the CDC revealing that 4,368 individuals aged 0–19 died from firearms in 2020, while 4,036 individuals in the same age group died in car accidents.
But when Breitbart News conducted a custom review of the CDC figures, narrowing “children” to those ages 0–17, those who are not old enough to vote, the figures were completely different. In 2020, there were 2,281 deaths of children ages 0 to 17 that were caused by guns. In the same age range, there were 2,503 deaths caused by cars.
Since June 2022, Biden along with other leftists, like Newsom, have kept making the false claim over and over again.
