He not only maintains a sizable lead in the Republican primary, but several recent surveys have him even with or ahead of Joe Biden. I discussed the Harvard/Harris survey, which gave Trump a five-point lead, and then the NY Times/Sienna poll, which showed a tie. Biden leads by the slightest of margins, +0.9, according to the RealClear Politics averages as of this week, and considering how the polls consistently favor Democrats, it seems like a victory to me.
The Democrats must be alarmed by this. They believed that if they hid Joe Biden in the cellar, Trump would already be engulfed in lawlessness. But things aren’t turning out precisely like they anticipated. His numbers appear to increase with each indictment or legal gambit they employ.
There are now rumors that they are attempting to assist Joe Biden by bringing up their big gun, Barack Obama.
According to a recent Washington Post article, Obama and Biden spoke earlier in the summer about Trump’s advantages, which included “an incredibly devoted following, a Trump-friendly conservative press ecosystem, and a divided country — highlighting their concern that Trump might prove to be an even more formidable contender than most Democrats realize.”
“According to two persons who attended the luncheon and spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private chat, Obama vowed to do all in his power to assist the president win reelection. The meal was conducted in the latter part of June in the White House residence.”
“That commitment was appreciated by the White House at a point in time when Biden is anxious to get pledges of support from prominent Democrats, among whom Obama is undoubtedly the biggest star, for what is sure to be a contentious reelection campaign. The private conversation’s details were not previously disclosed.”
There is undoubtedly some spin in that piece when it states that “Obama made it abundantly clear that his worries were not a concern about Biden’s political capabilities, instead an acknowledgment of Trump’s iron grip on the GOP,” according to the people. “Obama has been either misleading Biden or the WaPo is covering for Biden’s shortcomings.”
Obama is aware that there is a significant issue with Biden and knows that they would have plenty to worry about if Trump were to win the election. Heck, he allegedly advised fellow Democrat, “Do not underestimate Joe’s abilities to f… everything up,” which is why he first held off on nominating him for president in 2020. As for who may win the Iowa electorate, he stated, “And you’re aware who really does not have it? Joe Biden,” he allegedly uttered. That turned out to be very accurate; Biden blew it in Iowa.
Obama is anticipated to “start Biden’s campaign fundraising in the fall.”
