The city’s police department, under Chief Pamela Smith, has been handcuffed by policies that stop officers from doing their job when it comes to illegal immigration. He authorized a federal takeover of the city’s law enforcement, and Bondi’s actions are part of that effort to clean up the capital and restore safety. And it’s already working. Just this week, federal agents and National Guard troops arrested 45 people in one night—29 of them were illegal immigrants. That’s what happens when you actually enforce the law.
The truth is, D.C. has become a dangerous place. The left keeps bragging about crime dropping, but the reality is violent crime is worse than ever. Carjackings, shootings, and drug trafficking are out of control. And guess what? A big part of the problem is the refusal to deal with illegal immigration.
