Republicans Take The Lead As Democrats Scramble Before Election Day

Many folks across America have been watching the Virginia race for governor. That’s because nobody expected it to shape up like this. The state has been dominated by the D.C. swamp for years, with Democrats calling the shots. Most of the rural areas of the state have had to sit under a liberal lash that rivals San Francisco or Portland.

The Democrat candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe, was supposed to be a shoo-in. After all, he had already been governor previously. The Democrats’ voting bloc should have ensured an easy win. But unexpected events surfaced that challenged the liberal’s lead. Up-and-coming Republican challenger, Glenn Youngkin, started to catch up with him in the polls.

And now, the Trump-backed conservative has a commanding lead.

Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin has pulled ahead of Democrat opponent Terry McAuliffe with just days left until election day…

McAuliffe receives 45 percent to Youngkin’s 53 percent in a new Fox News survey of Virginia likely voters. Youngkin’s eight-point advantage is outside the poll’s margin of sampling error. That’s a big shift from two weeks ago, when McAuliffe was ahead by five, 51-46 percent…

The poll pointed to an enthusiasm gap between Youngkin and McAuliffe supporters as being what has shifted the momentum of the race, with Youngkin holding a 10-point advantage. The race has largely focused on education. [Source: Daily Wire]

The race was shaken up significantly after the brewing conflicts over Virginia schools. Parents from the state, like many around the country, have started to confront school boards over the teaching of CRT. McAuliffe made a major misstep by saying parents had no right to question what was being taught to their children.

The Democrats continued to make significant errors. Obama called the problems “trump-up” fantasies, just as a criminal investigation was launched out of Loudon Country over the sexual assault of a female student.

Add to that the fact that Biden is underwater in Virginia approval. McAuliffe himself has been critical of Joe and his party. Early voters expressed outrage over ongoing mandates and restrictions, as well as the overall failure of the current political establishment.

With a race this close, it’s hard to predict what the outcome will be. But the fact that Youngkin has overtaken McAuliffe in the polls, just before Election Day, should be sounding alarm bells among Democrats. This shouldn’t be happening. A Trump Republican shouldn’t be doing this well in an entrenched blue state.

No matter what the outcome is, this is a clear sign that Democrats across the country are in big trouble. And they only have themselves to blame.
