The Biden administration claims to be cracking down on the flood of illegal border crossings, yet the Border Patrol detention centers in the San Diego region are still overflowing, according to the New York Post.
According to the news source, as of this week, holding facilities in the area were operating at 150% capacity. The Post obtained internal agency statistics that showed that although the facilities can house up to 1,000 people, they are presently providing assistance to 1,500 undocumented immigrants.
Concurrently, the government declared its intention to close the biggest ICE detention facility, located in Dilley, Texas, which has the capacity to house 2,400 illegal immigrant criminals.
The government claims that Biden’s executive order from June 4 was intended to tighten down on unauthorized crossings, although there are a number of exceptions to the rule. The fact that the White House issued distinct directions for the San Diego sector is one of the largest gaps.
According to a document acquired by the Washington Examiner, Border Patrol officers in Southern California were instructed to release illegal aliens from most Eastern Hemisphere nations into the interior of the United States only days before the presidential order was set to go into effect. With the exception of Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, and Kyrgyzstan, foreigners from more than 100 countries are to be given a notice to appear and then freed on their own recognizance.
Because the governments of more than 100 nations in the Eastern Hemisphere usually do not participate in U.S. deportation flights, deporting individuals from these countries is more difficult.
Manny Bayon, the San Diego sector president of the National Border Patrol Council, told the Post that illegal aliens entering the area illegally have a higher chance of receiving permission to remain in the United States, which is why San Diego’s holding centers are still full.
Agents from the Border Patrol are observing illegal aliens from “all over the world,” a single agent told the news organization.
The agent said, “China, India — there are just like a s***-ton of Indians there — and Central Americans.”
A Post story claims that since Biden’s executive order went into force, the government has permitted over 30,000 undocumented immigrants to enter the country.
A source informed the news outlet that “thousands are still freeing by the day.” After receiving their [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] appointment, they vanish into thin air. Did you think they’d appear when they realized they shouldn’t? Naturally, no.
