Perhaps the least-useful person on Biden’s doomed staff is none other than Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “Mayor Peter” was the subject of major controversy while he ran for president, seeing as how much of his South Bend mayoral staff were under investigation.
He dropped out of the primaries just in time to help Biden secure the nomination. So, I guess Joe owed him a job. But Buttigieg ignored the supply chain crisis for months. Even after it exploded, he was too busy on vacation than dealing with the problem. That problem still persists, one of the leading factors of our crippling inflation.
So, what is Pete doing? Working on effective solutions to turn around this crisis? Of course, not. He’s just blaming COVID.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated that while the Biden administration is using every tool it can to fight inflation, “if you just consider the magnitude of the shock that the pandemic created, we’re going to continue seeing those shock waves reverberate through our economy, I think, for quite some time.”
“…The president has made clear his top economic priority is keeping prices under control and fighting inflation. We’re using all of the tools available to us to do that, but if you just consider the magnitude of the shock that the pandemic created, we’re going to continue seeing those shock waves reverberate through our economy, I think, for quite some time.” [Source: Breitbart]
A lazy and dishonest leader blames other factors for his own failure. The simple reality is, that we were recovering rapidly through the end of 2020 when Trump was still in office. But the moment Biden took over, everything started to decline. The goons he put into power had zero experience or leadership ability.
Buttigieg has no clue on how to run the Department of Transportation. It was just a flashy and impressive title Biden gave to him—along with a nice salary. Pete did not expect to have to do anything to help the American people.
So, when the supply chain crisis hit, he was caught flat-footed, unable to provide solutions to fix it. And even now, he makes excuses and blames COVID for inflation he is in part responsible for.
Prices have been skyrocketing, because stores can’t get products on the shelves. The continued demand is only driving up prices on the limited supply. And the reason many products are in short supply is because our pathetic federal government crippled our supply chain. Ships were stuck out at sea because customs officers were at home.
And despite knowing about this since August of 2021, Buttigieg has done nothing to fix it. His best “solution” was to impose a fine on shipping companies that aren’t moving empty containers from ports.
That’s it. Nothing about getting the customs officers up and running. Nothing to address the fact that California refuses to let in thousands of truckers, because of bogus emissions rules. Nothing to address the crippling shortage of truck drivers, partly thanks to Biden’s unemployment payouts.
Buttigieg just shrugs his shoulders and says, “Oh, well.” That’s not good enough, by a longshot.
