This week, Texas voters were the first to participate in this year’s midterm elections. On March 1, the state held its primary elections. Voters went to the polls to nominate those candidates they hoped will win this November. Obviously, in a strong red state like Texas, there would be plenty of conservative challengers vying for the party’s nomination. That includes many Republicans running for governor, lieutenant, and other state offices.
But the big news coming out of the state isn’t simply who did or didn’t win. Donald Trump, who won big in the Lone Star state in both elections, gave out a whopping 33 endorsements for this primary. His support could make or break a candidate. And many outside of Texas were eager to see if 45 still had enough influence to affect an election.
Guess what?
Every candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump in Texas’s Republican primaries have either won or are substantially leading their races as of 11:00 p.m. ET, potentially solidifying Trump’s kingmaker status in the first primaries of 2022…
“Big night in Texas! All 33 candidates that were Trump endorsed have either won their primary election or are substantially leading in the case of a runoff. Governor Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick have won in a landslide. Thank you, and congratulations to all!” […]
The Texas primaries are the first regularly scheduled primary elections in the 2022 cycle, making it the first opportunity to test the power of Trump’s endorsement post-presidency. As Breitbart News previously reported, how Trump fares on these races could influence how aggressive he gets in future primaries elsewhere in America. [Source: Breitbart]
Every candidate endorsed by Trump in the Texas Republican primaries won or either had a substantial lead by 11 PM, as votes were coming in. Those leads will ensure there will be no runoffs for these candidates and that their nominations are secured. This is bigger news than simply a chance to pat Trump on the back.
It proves that Trump’s influence continues to dominate in the Republican Party. Forces both within and without the GOP have tried to silence 45 ever since he left office. RINOs have joined with Democrats, hoping their efforts would kick Trump to the curb. Instead, he is more popular than ever before; and his endorsement can seal a candidate’s victory.
The results of this news? Republicans who might have been on the fence will now be eager to get Trump’s support. Other primary races across the country could be decided by the 45th president. And Democrats will be sweating bullets. Because it means Trump will be a larger figure going into the midterms.
And who knows? This is just the kind of news that could encourage him to announce a 2024 campaign?
