The Senate just sent a loud and clear message: President Trump’s administration is moving full speed ahead. On Tuesday, former Congressman Sean Duffy was overwhelmingly confirmed as the new Secretary of Transportation, cruising through with a 77-22 bipartisan vote. Even a handful of Democrats—yes, you read that right—including Sen. John Fetterman, jumped on board.
A Smooth Ride for Duffy
Duffy’s nomination faced zero resistance in the Senate Commerce Committee on Monday, setting the stage for an easy confirmation. That makes him the fifth Trump Cabinet member to secure his post, following Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s swift approval just a day earlier. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Secretary of State Marco Rubio also glided through their confirmations without major pushback.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune praised Duffy’s experience and commitment, particularly highlighting his understanding of transportation challenges in rural America. “Sean Duffy understands the transportation challenges that rural states like South Dakota face, and he’ll bring valuable experience that will help him manage our nation’s sprawling transportation system,” Thune said.
The Battles Are Just Beginning
While Duffy’s confirmation was a cakewalk, not all Trump nominees are in for such an easy ride. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth barely survived a brutal confirmation battle after three usual-suspect Republican senators—Lisa Murkowski (AK), Susan Collins (ME), and Mitch McConnell (KY)—tried to sink his nomination. Thankfully, Vice President JD Vance stepped in with the tie-breaking vote, securing Hegseth’s position.
Now, all eyes are on Thursday, when some of Trump’s most aggressive picks face their Senate hearings. Expect fireworks as the left tries to block:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services Secretary
Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence
Kash Patel to lead the FBI
The deep state and establishment elites are already sweating. These picks represent a direct challenge to the corrupt Washington machine, and the coming battles will show who’s truly fighting for the American people—and who’s just another swamp creature clinging to power.
