Virginia’s New Republican Leadership Makes Major Changes on Day One

Democrats were shaken by the results of last year’s Virginia state elections. The reliably blue state defied the odds to elect a Republican governor, Republican lieutenant governor, and a Republican attorney general. This shocked the left and is considered a sign of things to come in the upcoming midterm elections. But for anyone paying attention, this wasn’t a surprise. Democrats have been running the country into the ground since the pandemic. And millions of voters are ready to send liberals a powerful message.

So, what is happening in Virginia now? The new leadership has only just been sworn into office. Many eyes are on them, and not just in the state. The new governor, Glenn Youngkin, made numerous promises to the voters while campaigning. And it didn’t take him long to make them a reality.

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin got straight to work Saturday, issuing 11 executive orders within hours of his inauguration…

“It’s Day One, and we are going to work just like we promised,” said Youngkin in a press release, directing an end to “the use of divisive concepts, including Critical Race Theory, in public education” with his first executive order…

The new governor signed a flurry of orders aimed at issues that helped sweep him into office. The very first one banned critical race theory in public schools. The next few targeted COVID restrictions in schools, the Loudoun Country case, the state’s parole board, human trafficking, and more.

But he wasn’t the only newcomer to make major changes. The new state AG made huge waves the moment he entered office.

Virginia’s new Attorney General Jason Miyares wasted no time in taking his office in a new direction after being sworn in on Saturday, as the Republican A.G. fired 30 staffers, including many attorneys who were unlikely to see eye-to-eye with his promises of enacting law and order in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is good news. The new AG, Miyares, cleaned house by firing 30 staffers, including attorneys, on his first day in office. Such a move might seem drastic to casual observers, but its key if he wants to achieve his law-and-order agenda. These people were hired by the previous leadership, Democrats who were pushing a radical, pro-criminal and anti-cop agenda. But Miyares promised to uphold Virginia’s laws and protect citizens. Anyone that did not share that vision had to go.

He also announced investigations to increase government transparency, something that was sorely missing in the last administration. The previous governor of Virginia pushed a radical, far-left agenda that outraged locals. Chances are, more than a few issues needed to be examined.

This is only the beginning. Democrats in Virginia will be getting very nervous over the next few years. And Democrats across the country should be taking notice. Major changes like this could be coming to their neck of the woods soon.
