Never in America’s history have we seen such an aversion to patriotism as we’ve seen lately. Athletes that were once proud to represent the United States in the Olympics and other national tournaments have signaled their anti-America hatred as of late, and conservatives had had just about enough.
Just recently a 98-year-old veteran of World War II played a heartfelt rendeition of the national anthem on his harmonica during a U.S. Women’s National soccer match. Many of those women bowed their head in disrespect, some even turning away from the veteran as we gave his performance.
This is a man who risked his life to protect American freedom abroad and these women wouldn’t even grant him the respect to finish his national anthem performance.

The disturbing display occurred on Monday before the U.S. Women’s Soccer team is expected to compete in the summer Olympics in Tokyo. The American athletes were competing against the Mexican national team in a warm-up watch before heading to Japan.

The veteran playing the harmonica is Pete DuPré, who travels the nation playing his rendition of the national anthem, earning him notoriety across the country. The U.S. Women’s Soccer team put on their anti-American display, snubbing the flag as they solidified their standing in the upcoming Olympics. Many of the players are seen turning their backs from DuPré as played the national anthem.
These actions come after U.S. hammer thrower Gwen Berry also turned away from the American flag during the playing of the national anthem.
Monday’s incident sparked intense backlash on Twitter.
If you don’t feel the US represents your values and you want to protest by turning away from the flag, fine. That’s your right to do so. What confuses me is why you’d choose to represent that same country on a national level.

I'd rather field a team with less talent that wants to represent us than talented people playing for themselves. Those that turned away should be replaced.

And some the USWNT turned their backs to it. Meanwhile Mexico, a country with much less quality of life than America, sung every word of theirs. Welcome to America.
