Top Democrat In Hot Water With “Woke” Police

On a recent podcast appearance, Senate Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer referred to mentally disabled people as “retarded,” garnering intense backlash from the political correct Left and the “Woke” police.

The term is widely recognized as being a slur, akin to that of other banned racial slurs no longer allowed in the American lexicon. Schumer, 70, used the term when describing those with mental disabilities during a Sunday interview with OneNYCHA, a podcast dedicated to discussions of the public housing crisis in New York.

Schumer discussed his experiences when one of the podcast hosts mentioned a new policy in New York to provide mass shelter for the homeless. The Senate leader opened up about the plan in which he supports, and revealed some of the political setbacks in adopting it. https://twitter.com/user/status/1404510626760708097

The New York Democrat mentioned the skeptics of the proposal, saying:

“I wanted to build, throughout my entire career, even when I first was an assemblyman, I wanted wanted to build proper living place for retarded children, and the whole neighborhood I represented was against it.”

A spokesman for Chuck Schumer immediately came to his defense, saying his word choice was “inappropriate and outdated.”

“Sen. Schumer used an inappropriate and outdated word in his description of an effort he supported that was led by the AHRC to build a group home in his Brooklyn district decades ago to provide housing and services to children with developmental disabilities. He is sincerely sorry for his use of the outdated and hurtful language.”

This isn’t the first time Schumer has faced controversy for some of his more off-color remarks.

For example, in March of last year the Democrat leader found himself in hot water when he threatened Supreme Court Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. Both appointees of Donald Trump, Schumer promised the two would “pay for price” for ruling against the Democrats radical abortion agenda.

“They’re taking away fundamental rights,” Schumer began outside the Supreme Court building.

“I want to tell you, Gorsuch, and I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!”
