CNN Poll Triggers Anxiety Among Democrats–Everyone Loves Trump

A recent CNN poll by SSRS indicated that the majority of Republicans and Republican-leaners think the GOP would have a greater chance of winning in 2024 if former President Trump becomes the nominee.

In the poll, participants were asked: “Do you believe that Republicans have an increased likelihood of winning the office of president in 2024 if Donald Trump becomes the party’s nominee, or do you believe they have a higher probability of winning with a different candidate as the party’s nominee?”

51 percent of respondents said they thought Trump would improve the GOP’s chances. That represents a two-point increase over the identical statement made in March by 49% of respondents. In other words, Republicans still see Trump as having the best chance of winning the presidency in 2024, notwithstanding the latest indictment.

The GOP would’ve had a better chance having someone else, according to 49% of respondents, so it’s close. This is a decrease from the 50% who answered the same thing in March.

Republican and Republican-leaning respondents to the poll, which revealed Trump to be leading the GOP field by 21 points, agreed that it is probable that Trump will win the nomination. 52 percent of respondents said they thought it was “extremely” or even “very” likely, and 35 percent felt it was “somewhat likely.”

An aggregate poll of 1,350 participants was conducted from June 13–17, 2023. Its margin of error is +/- 3.4 percent.

The Economist/YouGov poll, which was conducted recently, indicated that the majority of Republicans think Trump has a higher chance of winning the 2024 race than Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The CNN poll supports these findings.

According to Breitbart News:

Among the two candidates, a majority, or 40%, said Trump had the best chance of winning the general election in 2024.

DeSantis received the same response from 28% of respondents, while 32% indicated they were still undecided.

Republicans are still more certain than Democrats that Trump will beat them in 2024, most likely President Biden. The study found that 58 percent of Republicans believe Trump can win, compared to 27 percent who believe the same of DeSantis and 15 percent who are still undecided.

According to a Monmouth poll conducted last month, 63 percent of Republicans believe Trump has the best chance of unseating President Joe Biden.
