When asked this week if he would heed a federal judge’s advice to refrain from saying things in public that might be interpreted as an attempt to intimidate witnesses or deliberately taint the jury pool, the former president of the United States was evasive and indicated that he would not accept a plea deal in a different case if one were made available.
At the Iowa State Fair, a reporter questioned President Trump on the directive from Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing Special Counsel Jack Smith’s criminal proceeding against Trump for allegedly trying to overturn the presidential elections in 2020.
Trump responded, “We will have a good look at the order. Everything about it is a lie. The author is Biden. And they released it because they can’t legitimately win an election.”
“It is all considered election interference,” he said. “Biden released it because he can’t win in a fair contest. In the polls, he is far behind.”
After the ceremony, Trump departed for his golf club in New Jersey by going to the airport.
“Is there a possibility you’ll accept a plea offer in Georgia?” a reporter questioned Trump on the tarmac.
“We made no mistakes. We never accept a plea agreement,” Trump stated. “We don’t accept plea bargains. It’s a question from a wise guy. Your just a wise guy,” Trump remarked. “Since I didn’t do anything illegal, we don’t accept plea agreements. Election meddling is what it is called.”
Trump is accused of trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election, which is the subject of two federal prosecutions, one from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and another from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, where he may be charged soon.
