Congress To Give Zelensky Major Spotlight Amid Russian Attacks

You get the feeling this is what Zelensky’s been after this whole time: a spotlight on the world’s stage.

And he’s finally getting it as members of Congress confirmed Monday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is slated to address the entire legislative body amid ongoing military attacks by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced to lawmakers in a “Dear Colleague” letter Monday about Zelensky’s address but little has been revealed about the contents of his speech.

Pelosi and Schumer praised the bravery of the Ukrainian people as they continue to fight back against “Russia’s unprovoked, vicious, and illegal war” and reiterated the United States’ vow to support the country as Russian President Vladimir Putin refuses to retreat despite facing a slew of sanctions from the West.

“As war rages on in Ukraine, it is with great respect and admiration for the Ukrainian people that we invite all Members of the House and Senate to attend a Virtual Address to the United States Congress delivered by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine on Wednesday, March 16th at 9:00 a.m.,” wrote the top Democratic leaders.

Congress recently passed a massive spending bill that included language to provide $13.6 billion in emergency aid for Ukraine in addition to the Biden administration placing sanctions on Russia’s energy sector.

It comes as no shock that Democrat leaders are spearheading Zelensky’s address; he is a leftist after all. Additionally, the Ukrainian President has become a media darling by appearing to take bold action against big, bad Putin, who remains a dominant media villain.

The Democrats and establishment news outlets have taken the side of war with endless demands that Biden institute a no-fly zone — a move that translates as “war” in Russian.

Still, the bloodthirsty Democrats will do anything to distract from the political mess created by their policies and Joe Biden’s mounting failures. The little-to-no discussion about the coronavirus pandemic proves just that: this is all for political gain.

Since some Republicans have taken an anti-war stance, they’ve immediately been labeled as agents of Russian disinformation.
