At this point, we have to assume Democrats know they are screwed. Sitting on their asses for over a year as Biden tanks the economy is not a winning strategy. Worse than that, Democrats encouraged Biden’s madness by refusing to check his policies and even enforce them at the state and federal level (don’t for all those governors who didn’t oppose Biden’s vaccine mandates). Perhaps the worst thing they did was approve Biden’s “stimulus” bill last year, which triggered runaway inflation.
Today, inflation is so bad, even liberal voters are ticked off. You can’t expect blue-collar and minority voters to support you, when you are hammering them at the grocery store and gas pump. Americans are getting more and more ticked off as they watch gas prices skyrocket. The solution is obvious and sensible, of course. But since when have Democrats ever done something sensible?
Democrats are proposing to offer drivers cash and rebate schemes to counter President Biden’s record-high gas prices.
Reps. Mike Thompson (D-CA), John Larson (D-CT), and Lauren Underwood (D-IL) last week proposed the Gas Rebate Act of 2022 where American drivers would receive a $100 energy rebate per month for the remainder of 2022.
The rebate would only be awarded if the national average gas price exceeds $4.00 per gallon. The national average price of gas on Thursday was $4.23, according to AAA.
Additional constraints would apply to “those who earn less than $75,000 and $100 for joint tax filers who earn less than $150,000,” CBS WCSC reported. [Source: Breitbart]
Is there an IQ test held for people entering Congress? Obviously not. The geniuses who are responsible for runaway inflation and skyrocketing gas prices now want to make the problem even worse by dishing out more free money. In the biggest case of “robbing from Peter to pay Paul,” Democrats want to raise taxes on oil and gas companies in order to shell out a measly $100 rebate to Americans.
Some earning less than $75,000 a year could earn more. Reports suggest it could be as high as $300. Of course, this is a pathetic attempt at salvaging back votes, as the Democrat party crashes and burns.
What would happen if they started giving out free money? The same thing that happened last time. Americans will rush out and spend it, quickly discovering that this sudden influx of cash lowered the value of the dollar. The price of gas would get even higher to compensate, erasing and “savings” an American would get from these checks. The cost of gas would end up even higher, not only wiping out these checks but costing you more.
And that’s not to say how it would harm other parts of the economy. Democrats know this would happen, but they don’t care. They are desperate to pretend like they are doing something about his crisis. But the real solution is obvious: eliminate Biden’s policies that contributed to the rising prices. They refuse to do that, though. So, once again, they fail.
