Sen. Scott Fights Socialism’s Threat to America

Senator Rick Scott of Florida is standing up for what makes America great — freedom, opportunity, and personal responsibility. This week, he introduced a powerful resolution in the U.S. Senate to denounce socialism for what it truly is: a failed and dangerous ideology that brings nothing but misery, poverty, and tyranny.

This comes at a time when socialist ideas are gaining ground in places like New York City, where Zohran Mamdani, a radical leftist and self-declared socialist, is now running for mayor. Let that sink in — a man who openly wants to abolish private property and give the government control over your food, your home, and your job is campaigning to lead America’s largest city.

Senator Scott’s resolution, titled “Denouncing the Horrors of Socialism,” lays out the brutal truth. Socialism has never worked and never will. History proves it. Just look at the Soviet Union, Communist China, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela. These are not success stories — they are cautionary tales. Millions of people died under socialist regimes led by tyrants like Stalin, Mao, Castro, and Maduro. These dictators promised equality and fairness but delivered starvation, fear, and mass murder.

Senator Scott, who represents thousands of Cuban and Venezuelan families in Florida, knows this better than most. These are people who fled their homelands to escape the nightmare of socialism. They came to America for freedom — the kind of freedom that only capitalism and a constitutional republic can provide.

In his statement, Scott said it plainly: “Socialism has led to the same, inevitable outcomes: misery, poverty, and oppression.” And he’s right. That’s why he is taking action now — because the threat is no longer just overseas. It’s right here at home.

Mamdani isn’t hiding his intentions. He has called for government-run grocery stores, the end of private property, and even the seizure of the means of production — the same radical nonsense that destroyed Venezuela’s economy and turned a once-rich country into a land of hunger and fear. Mamdani is backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, a group that proudly says he gives them the best chance to “seize state power.”

Let’s be clear: this is not just another political debate. This is a battle for the soul of our nation. Do we stand with the Founding Fathers, who gave us a Constitution built on liberty and limited government? Or do we hand over our rights to the government and trust politicians like Mamdani to decide what we can own, where we can work, and what we can eat?

Thankfully, leaders like Senator Scott and Representative María Elvira Salazar are not backing down. Salazar, whose community also includes many who escaped socialist regimes, said it best: “History is clear… socialism has always ended in misery, suffering, and death.”

Even some Democrats are waking up to the threat. Representative Tom Suozzi from New York said Mamdani and his socialist allies should “create their own party” because socialism has “failed everywhere.” He’s right. Socialism doesn’t belong in America — not in our cities, not in our schools, and not in our government.

Senator Scott knows what made the American Dream possible. He grew up in public housing, worked hard, built a business, and became successful. That’s capitalism at work — the system that rewards effort and innovation, not government handouts and control.

This resolution is more than just words. It’s a warning and a reminder. We must reject socialism at every turn and protect the principles that made this country the greatest in the world. The American people want freedom, not government control. They want opportunity, not handouts. And they want leaders who will defend our Constitution, not tear it apart.

We must never forget: socialism is not about fairness. It’s about power. And in America, power belongs to the people — not the government.
