Steven Garcia — a 48-year-old government contractor who worked for the Kansas City National Security Campus, a facility involved in the production of non-nuclear components for nuclear weapons. He vanished in August 2025 from New Mexico with a handgun. He has not been found.

Nuno Loureiro — an MIT professor of nuclear science and engineering, originally from Portugal. Shot and killed at his home. Carl Grillmair — a Canadian astrophysicist. Shot and killed at his home.

There are six more. The total is ten. No public evidence connects them. No law enforcement agency has declared a pattern. And the President of the United States just told the country he’s investigating whether one exists.

Let us sit with the McCasland details for a moment, because they are the ones that make the hair stand up. A retired two-star general who ran a multi-billion-dollar weapons science program walked out of his house in Albuquerque without his phone and without his glasses. He took a gun.
