A big win for law and order just came out of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. A radical judge in Minnesota tried to tie the hands of our brave federal immigration agents, but thankfully, a higher court stepped in and restored common sense—and the rule of law.
Here’s what happened. Anti-ICE protesters in Minnesota filed a lawsuit claiming that ICE agents violated their rights. But let’s be honest about who these protesters are. These are not peaceful, law-abiding folks holding signs on the sidewalk. These are agitators who have harassed, blocked, and even attacked federal agents simply for doing their jobs—enforcing the immigration laws of the United States.
The judge, a Biden appointee named Kate Menendez, sided with the radicals. She actually ruled that ICE agents couldn’t arrest people who were “peacefully protesting,” couldn’t use pepper spray or nonlethal force, and couldn’t even stop vehicles unless they had a long list of justifications. In other words, she tried to give street mobs more power than federal officers. That’s not how this country works.
Thankfully, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals saw through this nonsense and hit the brakes. The court issued a stay on the judge’s ruling, meaning ICE agents can get back to doing their jobs—arresting criminals, stopping chaos, and keeping our communities safe.
Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke for all of us when she said this wasn’t just about protecting officers from street criminals—it was also about protecting them from activist judges. She’s exactly right. We cannot let the courtroom become a weapon for lawless mobs. Judges are supposed to uphold the Constitution, not rewrite it to please the radical left.
Let’s also be clear about what these agents were facing on the ground. According to the Department of Homeland Security, agents in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area were being harassed at gas stations while trying to use the restroom. Crowds followed them, shouted at them, tried to trap their vehicles, and even threw food at them. One person spat on an officer. When that officer tried to make an arrest, the crowd surrounded and attacked the agents. This wasn’t “peaceful protesting”—this was mob rule.
In response, agents had to use tear gas and crowd control tools to restore safety. That’s not excessive force—that’s what happens when law enforcement is under attack. These men and women wear the badge to protect this nation, not to be punching bags for left-wing radicals.
The idea that a federal judge would try to stop agents from defending themselves or doing their job is outrageous. It’s proof of how far the left will go to shield illegal aliens and undermine our nation’s borders. They want to abolish ICE, open the floodgates, and leave our neighborhoods to deal with the fallout.
President Trump and his administration are doing the right thing by standing behind ICE and pushing back against this madness. The American people want security, not surrender. We want our laws enforced, not ignored. And we want our officers respected, not attacked.
This ruling from the Eighth Circuit is a step in the right direction. But we can’t let our guard down. The same people who tried to stop ICE agents today will be back in court tomorrow with another scheme to weaken our country. That’s why we have to stay alert, stay informed, and stay strong.
The battle for our borders is far from over. But with judges who follow the Constitution, leaders who stand for law and order, and patriots across this country who refuse to back down, we will win. Because in America, the rule of law still matters—and the brave men and women who defend it will not be silenced.
