Democrats are at it again—this time trying to tie the hands of President Trump and our brave men and women in uniform as they take the fight straight to the heart of the drug-running cartel chaos in Venezuela. Five House Democrats, including Rep. Seth Moulton and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, are pushing legislation to cut funding for U.S. military operations targeting drug-smuggling operations in and around Venezuela. Let’s be clear: this is not about “guardrails.” This is about Democrats doing what they always do—protecting criminals, undermining national security, and taking cheap political shots at a president who actually puts America First.
President Trump’s administration has taken decisive action to stop the flood of narcotics pouring into our country. Since September, U.S. airstrikes on drug-trafficking boats—run by narcoterrorists—have taken out at least 83 threats. These weren’t fishing boats. These were operations tied to deadly cartels that poison our streets and ruin American lives. Yet, instead of standing with our Commander in Chief, a group of radical Democrats are crying foul, calling it an “unauthorized war,” and even accusing Trump of threatening sedition against them. Give me a break.
Let’s talk about what’s really going on here. For years, Venezuela has served as a launchpad for drug trafficking and anti-American activity. The regime there is hostile to our interests and to the safety of our hemisphere. President Trump didn’t start a war—he authorized targeted military action against clear threats to the United States. That’s what a president is supposed to do. That’s his duty under the Constitution. But now, because he’s doing it effectively, Democrats want to shut it down.
Rep. Houlahan, who served in the Air Force, claims that Trump’s actions are “lawless” and that he’s gutting the military. That’s rich coming from the same party that spent years under Biden pushing woke policies into every corner of the Armed Forces, purging conservative voices, and tying the military’s hands with red tape. Under Trump, we’re rebuilding our strength, focusing on real threats, and cleaning up the mess the Left left behind. The Democrats don’t like that because it exposes their weakness.
And let’s not pretend this is about legal concerns or military ethics. The Justice Department’s own Office of Legal Counsel said clearly that U.S. service members involved in these strikes are not liable for prosecution. The strikes are lawful and justified. But that’s not good enough for Rep. Moulton and his anti-Trump buddies. They called the legal opinion “ridiculous” and “unconvincing.” Well, who are we supposed to believe—career legal experts at the DOJ or a bunch of left-wing politicians who’ve made a living out of trashing the president?
Perhaps the most outrageous part of this whole stunt is that it comes at a time when we should be united against foreign threats, not playing politics. These Democrats accuse Trump of making dangerous statements and abusing his power. But what they’re really doing is undermining his ability to protect the homeland. They want to pass a bill that would effectively shut down our operations against drug traffickers in Venezuela. That’s not restoring “constitutional guardrails”—that’s surrender.
The Constitution gives the president the power to defend this nation. President Trump is doing just that. He’s not launching some endless foreign war like Bush or Obama. He’s using targeted force to protect American lives. And for that, he’s being attacked by career politicians who care more about headlines and virtue-signaling than securing our borders or stopping the drug flow.
This is exactly why we elected Donald J. Trump. He’s not afraid to take action. He’s not afraid to call out sedition when he sees it. And he’s not going to let a handful of grandstanding Democrats stop him from doing what’s right for America.
The Left can whine and cry about “guardrails” all they want. But we know the truth: President Trump is protecting this country, and the American people stand with him.
