DeSantis Responds To Demands That Americans Accept One Million Refugees

Someone from the so-called “Squad” asked the U.S. to take in Palestinian refugees. But Republicans fought back right away against the idea of bringing in thousands of Palestinian refugees.

Juliette Touma, who works for the UN office that helps Palestinian refugees, says that in just one week, one million individuals have been forced to leave Gaza.

New York Democratic Representative Jamaal Bowman told the U.S. to take at least some of the more than 1 million Palestinian refugees.

“About half of the people living in Gaza are children. The U.S. and the rest of the world should be ready to take in Palestinian refugees, but we must be very careful to make sure that no Hamas members are allowed,” Representative Jamaal Bowman told the New York Post.

Bowman is being looked into for setting off the fire alarm at the Cannon House Office Building amid a vote in the House to keep the government from shutting down.

A number of well-known Republicans have strongly opposed letting Palestinian refugees into this country.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that the U.S. shouldn’t take in Palestinian refugees, although he did offer a way to help those in need.

During a campaign appearance this week in Iowa, the Republican presidential contender stated, “Also I will make clear, and I have no idea what Biden’s intending to do, but we can’t allow individuals from Gaza into our country as refugees. I do not intend to do that.”

‘From the way they act, you can tell that some of them are not Hamas members but all of them hate Jews. None of them believe that Israel has the right to exist,” DeSantis said.

“Not one of the Arab States has agreed to take a single one of them,” he stated. “If you’ve got refugees, the Arab States need to take them in. You do not fly people over to the U.S. from abroad and bring them in. We are going to have to be extremely determined on that.”

U.S. citizens who “praise” and back Hamas fighters who killed innocent Israeli people last weekend got a lot of flak from DeSantis.

“We have got many serious issues in this country, we have allowed many of these issues to fester,” DeSantis said. “But I have an extremely straightforward view: do not travel to the United States if you are against it or hate America. We need to start thinking about this more carefully.”

This week, DeSantis signed an order that says the state of Florida will “carry out logistical, rescuing and evacuating operations” to get Floridians back from Israel, which is in the middle of a war. The executive order also gives the people of Israel the things they need.

Other Republicans were also very against letting Palestinian refugees live in the United States.
