New reports reveal that members connected to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his DSA allies have been working behind the scenes to build ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). That’s right—the same CCP that spies on Americans, threatens Taiwan, crushes freedoms in Hong Kong, and runs brutal camps for its Uyghur Muslim population.

According to documents reviewed by Newsweek, members of the DSA were having private meetings and discussing how to make friends with the CCP. These weren’t just casual talks. These were planned discussions dating back as far as 2021. They even took trips to China, where they were hosted by officials from the Communist Party itself. And during these meetings, they talked about how to carefully avoid saying things that would upset the Chinese government—like criticizing their human rights abuses or their threats to invade Taiwan.

Let that sink in: instead of standing up for freedom and human dignity, these so-called “Democratic Socialists” were bending over backward to please the Chinese Communist regime. They didn’t want to talk about Hong Kong’s crackdown, or the millions of Uyghur Muslims forced into camps. And when someone in a 2021 meeting said the reports of Uyghur abuse were “an exaggeration,” nobody in the group pushed back. That’s not just silence—that’s complicity.

This is the same DSA that has worked hard to push far-left policies in our country. They claim to be about justice and equality, but now we know they’re willing to ignore real injustice as long as it helps them build ties with a foreign dictatorship. This is the same CCP that wants to replace America as the world’s top power, and the DSA is helping them do it from the inside.

We should also be asking serious questions about Mayor Zohran Mamdani. While he may not have attended these meetings himself, his campaign was proudly backed by the DSA. His staff and volunteers came straight from their ranks. And yet, when Newsweek reached out for a comment about these disturbing connections, neither Mamdani nor the DSA’s International Committee had anything to say.

Let’s be clear: the CCP is not our friend. They are our greatest global rival. They steal our technology, threaten our allies, and spread propaganda around the world. Any American group trying to cozy up to them should be watched closely, because this is not just about politics—it’s about national security.
