Democrats are trying to use the current government shutdown as leverage to force more of their big-government health care plans on Americans. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has blocked Republican efforts to reopen the government eight times. Eight times! Instead of working with Republicans to fix real problems, the Democrats are holding the country hostage, demanding more spending and more control.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader John Thune is leading the charge for fiscal sanity. He says the Democrats’ demands are unreasonable—and he’s absolutely right. If the shutdown continues past November 1, it could become the longest in American history. That’s not because Republicans aren’t trying to govern. It’s because Democrats are putting their radical agenda ahead of the American people.
And make no mistake: that radical agenda includes abortion on demand and irreversible gender procedures for children. They want taxpayers to pay for it, and they want to silence anyone who disagrees.
