Italy is standing up for parents, for children, and for truth. This week, the Italian Parliament took a bold step to protect kids from dangerous gender ideology and woke propaganda in schools. The bill, backed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara, says sex education can only be taught in middle schools if parents give written permission. That’s right—parents, not the government, get the final say.
Left-wing politicians and activists are losing their minds over this. They hate that parents are getting their authority back. The left wants to push radical ideas on kids, like the claim that there are more than two genders. They also want to sneak in sexual content without telling parents. But Meloni’s government said enough is enough. And thank God for that.
This new law, known as the Valditara Bill, passed through the lower house of Parliament with 151 votes in favor. It now goes to the Senate, and if it passes there, it will become law. The left is screaming that it’s “regressive” and “dangerous.” But let’s be honest—what’s really dangerous is letting political activists teach children that boys can be girls and girls can be boys.
The bill doesn’t ban sex education. It just says that parents must give written consent before their children can be taught about these topics. If parents don’t give permission, schools must offer alternative education. That’s called respecting families. That’s called freedom.
Minister Valditara made it clear: “This law avoids confusing children by teaching so-called gender theories.” He’s right. Kids need to learn about biology and how to protect themselves, not be told they can choose from dozens of made-up genders. This isn’t education—it’s indoctrination, and it has no place in the classroom.
Meloni’s government is defending traditional values and standing up against the woke takeover of schools. Undersecretary for Education Rossano Sasso said it best: “With this law, we are saying goodbye to gender ideology and the woke bubble.” Amen to that. Schools are for learning math, science, reading, and history—not for pushing political agendas.
The left claims this bill will somehow cause more violence against women. That’s ridiculous. Teaching kids that men can become women doesn’t stop violence—it just confuses kids and weakens the family. Real protection comes from strong families, moral values, and clear truth—not from woke slogans.
The law also prevents outside activists from being brought into schools without approval from the school board and teaching staff. That’s another win for parents and for local control. The people who know the children best—their families and their teachers—should decide what gets taught, not some activist with an agenda.
Italy is leading the way in Europe. Most European countries have already opened the floodgates to this kind of radical sex and gender education. But Italy is saying no. Italy is saying children come first. Italy is saying parents matter.
We in America should be paying close attention. Too many schools in our own country are already pushing gender confusion on our kids. They hide things from parents. They tell children they can change their gender. They bring in outside groups with no accountability. That needs to stop.
What Italy did this week is brave. It’s smart. And it’s the kind of action that puts families first and protects children’s innocence. Our own lawmakers—especially at the state level—should take note. We need to bring back parental rights here at home. We need to end the woke madness in our schools. And we need to defend truth, biology, and the American family.
This is a fight for the future of our kids. And it’s a fight we must win.
