Kamala Harris had a terrible interview with Bill Whitaker on “60 Minutes” recently. When asked important questions during the interview, Kamala Harris had a hard time. Even though the U.S. gives Israel billions of dollars in defense help, she didn’t call Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu an ally. When asked about Netanyahu’s refusal to listen to U.S. calls for a halt, her unclear answers didn’t help to make her position clear.
The real conversation, on the other hand, was probably so much worse than what TV showed. It turns out that “60 Minutes” edited Kamala Harris’s answers in a very Orwellian way.
Here’s a conversation that happened on social media before the interview aired:
KAMALA on ISRAEL: Well, Bill … the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of many things including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.

A bunch of words that didn’t make much sense together. So “60 Minutes” did what most news shows do these days: they actually changed the interview, putting in her answer to a different question where that horrible one was.
They didn’t show that version of the interview, though.
Here’s a video that shows what happened during the interview and then what was shown:
Remember Kamala’s word salad answer about Israel on 60 Minutes? It’s gone.

This is a transcript of the real interview:
BILL WHITAKER:Â It looks like Prime Minister Netanyahu is not paying attention.
KAMALA HARRIS: Well, Bill, the work we’ve done has led to a number of actions by Israel in that area. These actions were caused by or came about because of a lot of things, including our support for what needs to happen in the area.
Here is a transcript of the talk show interview:
BILL WHITAKER: It looks like Prime Minister Netanyahu is not paying attention.
Kamala Harris: We will not give up on doing what it takes for the United States to make it clear where we stand on ending this war.
The modified version is also in CBS News’s report of the interview.
Without a doubt, neither answer was good, but it was clear that the people at CBS News who edited the new version thought it made her look a little better.
