Musk Working to ‘Fix’ Twitter Before Final Purchase

The saga of Elon Musk buying “woke” Twitter continues to unfold. His final acquisition of the company hit a snag last week. Musk admitted he was putting the sale on hold, temporarily, until he gets a final word on how many users are actually fake, bot-run accounts.

Musk has been very outspoken about Twitter’s failure to remove fake accounts when most other social media sites have been successfully doing this for years. But Musk is doing even more to ensure Twitter is getting reformed, even before he takes over. He revealed the default feed Twitter shows users is being manipulated.

And he is telling everyone how to fix it.

Elon Musk warned Twitter users that they are “being manipulated” and advised them to turn off Twitter’s algorithmic feed generator Saturday night.

The billionaire Tesla founder, who is currently in the process of purchasing Twitter, points out the social media giant currently offers users two versions of their feed, known as “Latest Tweets” and “Home.” The latter are generated by Twitter’s algorithm, while the former shows tweets from followed accounts in the order they are sent.

Musk blew the whistle on how Twitter is manipulating what users see via algorithms. By default, users’ feeds are set to “Home,” which consists of a curated display of tweets. That includes recommendations, suggestions, and other content users did not ask to see.

Actual tweets from people they follow are buried beneath content Twitter’s operators (whom we all know are leftists) want you to see.

Musk informed his followers that to fix this, simply set their feeds to “Latest Tweets,” which is what most users probably assumed was on by default.

But Twitter does not inform users of this feature when they sign up or log in. Twitter has the setting hidden behind a collection of stars at the top of the page/app. It’s unlikely a user even knows these stars are a button, rather than something decorative.

Most apps, including social apps, indicate a settings button with a gear icon or something similar. But it seems Twitter is trying to discourage users from switching how they view content by hiding the feature.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that’s been paying attention. Twitter has lost plenty of respect by users, over accusations that they’ve been censoring and shadow banning conservatives. Many conservative figures have seen their reach hampered in recent years, as the website reduces how many users actually see their tweets.

More than that, Twitter can decide what you see using these algorithms. And, chances are, what you’ll see is whatever the left wants you to see. The idea that you get to follow people you want, and see their content, is actually the opposite of Twitter’s plan.

But that might change, once Musk takes over the company. Be assured, though, that the left will end their agenda kicking and screaming.
