According to the New York Post, a sizable group of about 3,000 people is allegedly traveling to the United States in an attempt to enter the nation illegally before the November presidential election.
The soon-to-be illegal immigrants are beginning their journey on foot in an effort to take advantage of the open-border policies of the Biden administration, which former President Donald Trump will surely end if he wins the next election.
The Post reports that the group consists of foreign citizens from twelve Latin American nations who are currently traveling through Mexico to reach the southern border of the United States. Their goal is to apply for asylum and potentially gain entry into the country.
“The Republican platform pledges to initiate the most extensive deportation campaign in our nation’s history.”
The government of Trump and his chosen vice president, Senator JD Vance (R) of Ohio, have made it plain that they want to rein in the open-border policies that have allowed millions of undocumented immigrants to enter the country under Biden’s presidency.
“By far, the worst president in our country’s history is the crooked Joe Biden. From our southern border to energy dominance, national security, international standing, and so much more, he has done all in his power to undermine our country. Following his utter destruction in an earth-shattering debate, the corrupt and radical Democrats are now pushing him too far, according to a new social media post by Trump.
The Biden administration has taken immense pride in its attempts to provide more so-called legal routes so that more foreign nationals can enter the country more quickly. As part of that endeavor, the government introduced the CBP One application by Customs and Border Protection, enabling people to set appointments in order to file asylum applications at a port of entry.
“We are risking the danger that permits (to cross the border) can be rejected,” 37-year-old El Salvadorian national Miguel Salazar told the Associated Press. Salazar says most US visitors want to make an appointment using the CBP One app, but they can only do so in Mexico City or northern Mexico.
He said, “Everyone wants to go that road.”
The caravan left Ciudad Hidalgo, a city in southern Mexico, on Sunday, according to the AP. A few of the people told the news organization that they had been living in the city for weeks as they waited for permission to go to places in the north.
A 55-year-old citizen of Cuba named Oswaldo Reyna, who is traveling with the caravan, disagreed with Trump’s claims that illegal immigrants are breaking into the country.
“We don’t have criminal records,” Reyna asserted. “We are hardworking individuals who emigrated to our new nation in order to improve our lot in life, as we face several challenges back home.”
Trump said, “To keep our families safe, the Republican platform commits to beginning the biggest deportation operation in our country’s history,” during his speech at the Republican National Convention last week.
He said, “We have to put an end to the invasion into our nation that is murdering hundreds of thousands of people every year.” “People are welcome to enter our nation, but they must do so lawfully.”
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador spoke to Trump as “a buddy” and “a man of brains and vision,” according to a recent AP story. “To prove to him that migrants don’t transport narcotics into the United States,” he said in a planned letter to Trump, adding that “closing the border won’t solve anything, and anyhow, it can’t be done.”
Automakers, among other American firms, “wouldn’t last a month with the border closed,” according to López Obrador.
According to López Obrador, an effort to bring manufacturing back to the United States “would imply that each vehicle sold would cost U.S. residents between $15,000 and $20,000 more on average.”
